Learning About Entrepreneurship

We officially kicked off our 2020-2021 program year a few weeks ago, on September 11th and 12th, with our virtual launch and first in-person meeting of this program year. We were excited to have 10 mentees and 10 mentors participate.

The weekend started with a virtual kickoff on Friday, September 11th, where participants received baskets of supplies and goodies to their homes in advance of the meeting. The first monthly gathering took place in-person on Saturday, September 12th. Mentees learned the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, including identifying social entrepreneurship opportunities and developed the initial frameworks of their own entrepreneurship projects.

Despite everything that’s going in the world, we are happy to be able to meet in-person for our monthly gatherings in a safe, clean environment. We thank SOAR Co-Working, Inc. for the opportunity to once again utilize such a beautiful space to meet.

Program Topic: Entrepreneurship

The first monthly gathering centered around learning about entrepreneurship. We started the session by learning more about entrepreneurship and what it means for our world and the community.

We brainstormed a social entrepreneurship opportunity that we could create over the course of the program season and chose a social entrepreneurship opportunity that we could work on together for the Entrepreneurship Project.

The goal of this project was to help our mentees recognize the ease of impacting their schools and neighborhoods by identifying a need and taking what they are skilled at to help meet the need.
