Learning About Team Work & Problem Solving

Our November monthly gathering took place on November 14th, 2020. We were excited to have 8 mentees and 8 mentors participate.

Program Topic: Team Work & Problem Solving

Our mission this month was learning about teamwork and problem solving. With the help of a fun, DIY escape room by LockPaperScissors, mentees were able to assess their natural tendencies when working on a team and how to overcome any barriers.

High school senior, Jolene recognized her competitive nature and how she typically takes more of a leadership role when working with others. She was able to empower her entrepreneurship project partner and freshman, Grace, with confidence to give ideas as they worked together on their entrepreneurship project.

As we move into the end of the year, our mentees are finally seeing their projects take form as they turn their ideas into reality to make a difference in their communities. At the end of this program year, teams will present their project idea for a chance to win a $500 scholarship. We’d love your financial support this Giving Tuesday – December 1st as we raise funds to continue to offer opportunities like these for our young ladies in the community.

We have recognized that successful collaborations include:

  • Healthy Communication

  • SMART goals

  • Having a plan

  • Shared motivations

  • Accountability

What other characteristics do you believe lead to successful collaborations?
